Humans actions and behaviours are programmed into us from a young age, usually from the age of 3 - 7. We learn patterns from our parents, grandparents, friends, adverts, tv shows and news. Each child is learning through someone else's perspective or the child may be given advice but misunderstand what they hear.
Advice like "don't do that, you might hurt yourself". Now this is a caring thing to say to a child and it's only looking out for them, but the child may misinterpret the tone of the voice more than what is being said. They may feel told off, or become worried about hurting themselves. Or on the opposite side a child may see that someone would care if they were to get hurt, that might cause them to put themselves in danger for the attention.
I see lots of clips on the TV and Internet of children falling over and they pause just a second before reacting, nine times out of ten they will react to how the parents react. If the parent is shocked and gasps and runs over to save them, the child will cry. If the parent laughs on the other hand, so will the child. So which child do you think will grow up more confident?...... which one were you?
We are also programmed by beliefs. What we believe is how we will act, think and feel. Our beliefs control most of our behaviour, some people will absolutely not go against what they believe.
While some people believe things that are helpful to their lives, others however only believe things that will limit them.
When we believe something, it's usually set in stone, and it is very hard to change that belief. It's the subconscious mind that holds on to the belief which means it's the subconscious you need to change.
We can change our programming and replace limiting beliefs for more positive ones. Hypnotherapy is a great tool to get into the subconscious and create that change.
Now, TV is the most hypnotic control over our minds. The TV program you watch keeps your eyes still, which puts you into a kind of trance. Then the ads come on and they are louder so you take on what's being said. The ads themselves will use colour and words to lightly "program" you. Like when an advert uses a song from the radio, once you've heard it a few times as an advert you might hear the real song and picture the advert playing in your mind.
Our subconscious mind is the driving force behind our decision making, it ultimately has the last say. Sometimes our subconscious believes in 'the comfort zone' and wants to keep us there for safety. This is where people get stuck and limited. Gaining the confidence to move beyond the comfort zone can be found in both hypnotherapy and hypno - EMDR.
Change your mind - so you can change your life.
